Christmas Cards
After high school, I had decided not to go to college,
and was hired by National School Studios to be a school photographer.
After three months of shooting pre-schoolers, I decided that college
sounded like a lot more fun. I also decided that I never wanted
to photograph children again. The only children I take pictures
of are my own.
Starting with our older son Matt's first Christmas,
I decided to make a special Christmas card each year. Being a
professional procrastinator, many of the photos were shot literally
two or three days before Christmas. So instead of sending the
cards, we handed them out. It was a lot more fun seeing people's
reactions.
These are the ones I consider the best. Only the 1998
snow globe card had any computer manipulation. All of the others
were completely done "in camera," with the exception
of 1990, which was hand-drawn.
