This is probably my favorite Christmas shot. I built
the chimney out of E-Z brick, surrounded the base of the chimney
with polyfil, and painted the houses and trees directly onto the
blue seamless backdrop paper. To create the moon, I cut a circle
out of the seamless and covered it with about five layers of yellow
tissue paper. A White Lighting strobe was set up directly behind
the hole. Clear iridescent sequins were glued at various places
in the "sky" to create stars. And, last but not least,
my wife made the tiny Santa suit. This time, for the fog I placed
two pans of boiling water just out of the frame on both sides
of the scene, and dropped pieces of dry ice into the water. This
made the fog more controllable, and it hugged the ground. I used
my Tiffen Fog #2 filter to create the haze around the moon.
